Important Memorial Day Weekend Information:
The cemeteries of The Boston Catholic Cemetery Association, Mt. Calvary in Roslindale, New Calvary in Mattapan, and Mt. Benedict in West Roxbury will be open on Memorial Weekend for our normal hours 7:30 AM to 6:30PM for visitation. (Mt. Benedict will close at 7:00pm)
Sadly, we cannot have Catholic Mass at either Mt. Benedict or New Calvary due to the Covid-19 restrictions which have been placed on large gatherings.
Our offices will be staffed on throughout the Memorial Day weekend (Calvary and New Calvary 8am to Noon, Mt. Benedict 8:30am to 12:30pm). The office doors will not be open to the public, however we will be answering phones to answer any questions. We have American Flags to hand out as long as our supply lasts. We have had some Veteran groups in, placing American Flags on gravesites, so please check your loved one’s gravesite first before requesting a flag. If you visit our website you can use our grave locator and view maps as well. www.BostonCemetery.org
When you visit our cemeteries, you will notice that they are not in the typical condition for a regular Memorial Day as we have been inundated with burials and following the new protocols due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Our dedicated staff have been working tirelessly and have had many exceptionally long days. This has had a ripple effect on our normal upkeep of the cutting and trimming of grass, landscaping the recent burial sites, as well as beautifying the property. We have outsourced a landscape company to assist us in this process and are hopeful that we can have nearly all the properties in better condition soon.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this extremely difficult time.

Grass cutting and trimming
We are behind preparing the cemeteries due to the increase in pandemic burials and numerous rainy days this spring. We are doing our best but our burials must come first. We have hired an outside landscape company to cut and trim the cemetery grass. They should have it completed by Memorial weekend. We thank you for your patience.
Portable restrooms are available as the restrooms in our office buildings are closed to the public.

OUR STAFF IS WORKING VERY HARD TO HAVE OUR CEMETERIES READY FOR MEMORIAL WEEKEND.
HOWEVER, DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC WE ARE EXPERIENCING A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN OUR WORK LOAD DUE TO INCREASED BURIALS. IN ADDITION THE RAINY WEATHER THIS SPRING HAS CREATED ISSUES THAT HAVE LIMITED OUR ABILITY TO PREPARE FOR MEMORIAL WEEKEND.
OUR GROUNDS STAFF MUST MAKE FUNERALS THEIR PRIORITY BEFORE ANY OTHER CEMETERY WORK CAN BE COMPLETED.
PLEASE EXPECT THAT IT WILL TAKE SIGNIFICANTLY LONGER TO RESPOND TO REQUESTS FOR GRAVE MAINTENANCE AND TO HAVE OUR CEMETERIES READY FOR MEMORIAL WEEKEND.
WE HAVE HIRED A LANDSCAPING COMPANY TO ASSIST US TRIM AROUND THE MONUMENTS.
WE WILL MAKE EVERY ATTEMPT TO COMPLETE MAINTENANCE REQUESTS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE AND TO PREPARE THE CEMETERIES FOR MEMORIAL WEEKEND.
WE APPRECIATE YOUR PATIENCE.
