Notice: Requirements for all interments in our cemeteries.

In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws 114 § 45, you must present a Burial Permit for the interment of remains on or before the day of service.

Burial Permit, Signed Interment Order, Original Cremation Certificate (if applicable) and Payment are all due on the day of service.

Check or Money Order made payable: Boston Catholic Cemetery Association.

Columbarium urn spaces are available at New Calvary and Mount Benedict Cemeteries.

We want to thank you for your patience!!!
 
This has been a difficult season for our cemeteries. We have had quite a lot of rain and have had a very difficult time hiring the help we needed to cut and trim the cemeteries. However we see light at the end of the tunnel as we have hired an outside company to help us catch up with the cutting and trimming. We expect to be back to normal over the next 2 weeks.

MEMORIAL WEEKEND HOURS AND MASS SCHEDULE

2019 Memorial Weekend Hours

Saturday 5/25, Sunday 5/26 and Monday 5/27

 

The Offices at Mt. Calvary and Mt. Benedict will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

The gates at Mt. Calvary and New Calvary Cemeteries will be open from 7:30am until 6:30pm.

The gates at Mt. Benedict Cemetery will be open from 7:30am until 7:00pm.

The gates at St. Mary’s Cemetery will be open from 9:00am until 1:00pm.

 

Our Annual Memorial Day Masses will be held on Monday May 27th.

Mount Benedict Cemetery, 409 Corey Street, West Roxbury at 10:00 am.

New Calvary Cemetery, 800 Harvard Street, Mattapan at 11:00 am.

BILL CUDDAHY RETIRES

After 50 years Bill Cuddahy has retired. Bill most recently was our foreman at Mt. Calvary, New Calvary and St. Mary’s Cemeteries and was at Mt. Benedict for years as well.
 
Now he can play his guitar all day.
 
We wish Bill a long, healthy and happy retirement!!!

REMINDER _ DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BEGINS

Daylight Savings Time Begins on Sunday March 10th.

The Gates will now be open until 6:30pm at Mount Calvary and New Calvary Cemeteries.

The Gates will now be open until 7:00pm at Mount Benedict Cemetery.

 

Office Opening Delay/Closure Due to Weather

The offices at Mt. Calvary, New Calvary and Mt. Benedict will have a delayed opening this morning (Monday 3/3) due to the weather and road conditions. We hope to open later in the day. We will monitor the Mt. Calvary Office message machine (617-325-6830) and return calls as needed. The scheduled service for Mt. Benedict will go on as planned unless we are notified that it has been rescheduled.

Mt. Calvary/New Calvary Office Closed 1/31/2019

The Mt. Calvary/New Calvary office is closed this morning Thursday January 31st due to a weather related issue. The Mt. Benedict office is open from 9am to 3pm. We will be monitoring our e mail address for messages throughout the day and will check on the phone messages left at the Mt. Calvary/New Calvary offices on a regular basis throughout the day up until 3:30pm.

Cemetery Backhoe Operator Position

We currently have opening for a Backhoe Operator position.

This is a union position and is governed by a bargaining agreement.

The position averages 40 hours per week. Coverage for weekend funerals which may require additional Saturday/Holiday hours. Will be scheduled to work the Saturday, Sunday and Monday of Memorial Day weekend as required.

This position requires outside work in all-weather types.

Benefits include paid holidays, vacation and sick time, medical, dental, LTD, Life insurance and limited company provided clothing.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Must have a valid driver’s license and MA DOT Medical card.
  2. Must currently hold and maintain a valid hoisting license.
  3. Must be familiar with landscaping practices.
  4. Must provide copy of RMV driving history.
  5. Must be able to carry heavy objects.
